Thanks for the update [~iyonger]! Your .008 patch appears to be identical to 
your .007 patch - I think you uploaded the wrong thing. Sounds like you've 
addressed all the concerns I raised, and I like the changes you mention in 1. 
and 3. I'm not entirely sure what you mean in 2., but I'm sure I'll see once 
you update the patch.

I've also looked into other metrics2 usage to address my other questions and I 
see that they behave the same (in that the metrics system will report metrics 
from seemingly unrelated conexts). I haven't yet got an answer on the thinking 
behind the difference between system and context, but I'm satisfied from what 
I've seen that that is at least intentional and consistent. So I expect that 
I'll be able to commit your patch very soon if you can the .008 patch and post 
the one with your updates.
