OK, the local test FS is failing. I'm going to submit this to HDFS too to see
what it says. HDFS and posix are the reference points for what we want the
object stores to do, so their test outcomes have to be considered normative
unless we can show that they are broken and, for HDFS, fix in a way which
doesn't break anyone's code
