Reviewing some more. In HDFS-13713 we added the overidden timeout, as [I hit
the same
problem|https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-13713?focusedCommentId=16624225&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels%3Acomment-tabpanel#comment-16624225].
I'm going to close it as a duplicate of that, re-open if it surfaces again on
trunk.
