Prakash Gopalsamy commented on HADOOP-16259:
--------------------------------------------
Hi [[email protected]]/[~gabor.bota],
I have started working on the code changes for the proposed changes to enable
the property for reduced storage. But I am facing problems while compiling the
hadoop-common project. I have cloned the hadoop project using the link "
git clone https://gitbox.apache.org/repos/asf/hadoop.git". But it seems there
is some problem in the class "org.apache.hadoop.fs.FileStatus". This class is
referring an import "org.apache.hadoop.fs.FSProtos.FileStatusProto" in the same
package. But it seems that the class "org.apache.hadoop.fs.FSProtos" is not
available in this package. There are impact to some other classes as well due
to such mismatch. Could you please let me know the working branch from which I
can start building the patch.
Thanks
> Distcp to set S3 Storage Class

>
> Hadoop distcp implementation doesn’t have properties to override Storage
> class while transferring data to Amazon S3 storage. Hadoop distcp doesn’t set
> any storage class while transferring data to Amazon S3 storage. Due to this
> all the objects moved from cluster to S3 using Hadoop Distcp are been stored
> in the default storage class “STANDARD”. By providing a new feature to
> override the default S3 storage class through configuration properties will
> be helpful to upload objects in other storage classes. I have come up with a
> design to implement this feature in a design document and uploaded the same
> in the JIRA. Kindly review and let me know for your suggestions.
