I think we need some documentation and proposed use case (who will call this method). Also a proposal how we integrate this with the greater FileSystem APIs would be good. We generally want to keep the FS implementations on the same API or they can diverge over time and create a mess. Depending on the greater API discussion, the listStatus method probably needs some Private Unstable annotations.
