Hello [~daryn], [~kihwal],
I see there was a long discussion on backporting this fix to branch-2, but it
did never happen.
May I ask why? Were there any major issues preventing backporting? Is there any
work left behind, which may be useful to proceed with backporting? From the
thread I see that all patches were applied to Hadoop 3 only.
