---------------------------------------------------------------

Now that jetty 9.4.20 is in trunk (which supports JDK 11, done in
HADOOP-16152), I ran the same test {{TestHttpServer#testJersey}} both on the
Ubuntu box and locally on my Mac with {{-Djavac.version=11}} option when
compiling. Both got the same error 500. I also took some time to confirm that
indeed the root cause is in jersey itself. The proper way is to upgrade jersey:
HADOOP-15984.

-But is there another way to workaround this? Somehow let the code that uses
jersey compile to java 8 byte code even though {{-Djavac.version=11}} is
specified.-

I see great progress is being made in PR#763 - HADOOP-15984. Thanks [~aajisaka]!
