Ayush Saxena commented on HADOOP-16924:
---------------------------------------
Hi [~weichiu]
I recently faced an issue, for which I wanted to upgrade hadoop version from
3.1.0 to a higher one, but landed up facing issues due to guava, since all of
the release lines, from 3.1, have the upgraded guava.
I thought on similar lines and thought of shading guava to thirdparty, so got
hold of this jira.
Anything blocking here? If not, I can help volunteer here.
> Shade & Update guava version to 28.1-jre

> Key: HADOOP-16924
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-16924
> Project: Hadoop Common
> Issue Type: Task
> Affects Versions: 3.4.0

> Priority: Major
>
> I'd like to propose
> (1) shade guava into hadoop-thirdparty.
> (2) migrate the hadoop main repo to use the shaded guava.
> (3) update guava to 28.x in Hadoop 3.4 (Hadoop 3.3.0 is on guava 27) --> this
> is a moving target. There's probably going to be a new version of guava by
> the time Hadoop 3.4 is released.
