This is fixed in 0.23.1 and 1.0.0, and all their successor branches.
However, it is held open for 0.20-append and 0.21.1.
To the best of my knowledge no one is working on those branches.
Unless someone intends to patch this bug in those branches, can we mark this
bug fixed? Thanks.
