Updated with a new patch that includes some mockito-based tests.
For fairly obvious reasons, it's difficult to test most of this functionality
in an automated fashion. Manually, I did tested valid and invalid configs
against an Active Directory server using both SSL- and non-SSL-enabled
configurations.
