Hey Venky,
New contributions should be against trunk (the development branch for future
releases). From there it can be merged to a release branch (eg branch-0.23 for
the next 23.x release). To be included in a future sustaining release (Hadoop
1.x.y series) the right branch to use is branch-1. It's also the closest thing
to 0.20.2 which is two years old. Details here:
