H. Vetinari commented on HADOOP-15984:
--------------------------------------
As of today, we can add Java 21 to the list of LTSes not yet supported by
Hadoop.
>From the sidelines, I don't understand how this not treated as an absolutely
>critical issue for the project - the more time goes by, the harder it is to
>update any dependencies, and the less those dependencies will care about
>fixing any eventual bugs in their own long-outdated versions - making the
>version gridlock harder to break out of with every passing week. This is not a
>hypothetical
>[example|https://github.com/apache/hadoop/pull/5768#issuecomment-1605619257].
The longer this goes on, the more code is at risk of having to be rewritten or
ripped out wholesale to break that gridlock, to the point when it eventually
becomes move-or-die. It sounds like a completely untenable situation to me, but
just to be clear: that's not me whining about what hadoop is (not) doing, just
noting a sincere sense of incredulity about the (lack of) sustainability of
this situation.
