It's a nightmare with traumatic consequences downstream. We do it internally:
other stuff breaks. We don't do it; other stuff can't upgrade.
thoughts.
* jersey is all server-side, correct? so it isn't trouble for client code
except for things which run in servers.
* but we are exporting it in hadoop-common. do we need to?
