[~mthakur] and [[email protected]] , yes, I can confirm this proposal is
coming from the Google engineering team that currently maintains the {{gs://}}
file system. It's not intended to be an entirely new implementation from
scratch so much as it's an enhanced version of the existing production-tested
code.
We want to be able to work more closely with the ASF community on this. We also
intend to sustain investment of Google engineering resources. I've set
expectations that this means not only maintaining the codebase but also
fielding ASF bug reports, code reviews and integration testing.
We're currently working through some internal reviews, and then Arun will be
able to share a more detailed proposal.
