Yaniv Kunda commented on HADOOP-19083:
--------------------------------------
[[email protected]] you're right, but I was referring to the latest release,
hadoop-3.4.1, which uses bundle 2.24.6 -
Which contains several non-relocated dependencies such as apache http
components, commons-codec and the source of my problem - netty.
And it looks like the upcoming 3.4.2-RC1 contains bundle 2.29.52 which you
mentioned, so the problem I'm describing should be gone when it gets released.
I'll leave this ticket alone and look for others you mentioned - thanks!

> Have the default hadoop binary .tar.gz exclude the aws v2 sdk by default.
> This SDK brings the total size of the distribution to about 1 GB.
> Proposed
> * add a profile to include the aws sdk in the dist module
> * document it for local building
> * for release builds, we modify our release ant builds to generate modified
> x86 and arm64 releases without the file.
