This is major patch and something we've needed for a long time ... I think we
ought to consider a strategy of "get it in trunk" and then evolve it until
happy, finally backporting to branch-2.
Alan, have you a branch on github I can merge (and track) in my own code so
that I can play with it in a local kerberized VM running trunk?
