Sean Busbey commented on HADOOP-11910:
--------------------------------------

maybe. a configurable regex allows a given test-patch user to enforce a naming
norm. changing to relying on the file command is more flexible, but loses that
ability to force a standard.

I have this one implemented already, but I'm happy to implement HADOOP-11906 if
Allen prefers.

> add command line arg to test-patch for the regex to use for evaluating if
> something is a patch file.

> right now before test-patch can be used on a submission it checks if the file
> ends with ".patch". we should make this configurable so that it can be used
> with other projects that might want to be more permissive (i.e. ".patch.txt")
