Attempting to test this on OS X resulted in a few discoveries:
* The hadoop-pipes pom and cmake setup does not support the properties that the
rest of hadoop supports. (HADOOP-12518)
* test-patch has never tested hadoop-pipes and likely large chunks of other
hadoop-tools parts. I tracked it down to HADOOP-8308 for the origin of that
code. (YETUS-138)
