Hi Ziyad: Do you see any errors on the log file ?
I have installed CDH3 in the past on Ubuntu machines using the two links below: https://ccp.cloudera.com/display/CDHDOC/Before+You+Install+CDH3+on+a+Single+Node <https://ccp.cloudera.com/display/CDHDOC/Before+You+Install+CDH3+on+a+Single+Node%20> https://ccp.cloudera.com/display/CDHDOC/Installing+CDH3+on+a+Single+Linux+Node+in+Pseudo-distributed+Mode Also the blog link below explains how to install using tarball files that works on my Ubuntu too (even though it is explained for Mac). http://knowledgedonor.blogspot.com/2011/05/installing-cloudera-hadoop-hadoop-0202.html Hope these links help you proceed further.
