Logout failure

Hi all,
I have a small class that just logs into a FTP serever and then Logs out
I tried both of the following lines for logging out
1. ftp.logout();
2. ftp.sendCommand("quit");
and they both cause this exception:
Connected to www.ideas.ie.
220 ProFTPD 1.3.0a Server (IDEAs FTP Server) [193.1.99.22]
230 User **** logged in.

Any suggestions ?
Does ftp.disconnect has the same effect as logging out ? Because disconnect
function works allright.
