The GenericKeyedObjectPool case is trickier. I just committed a change along these lines, but it would be great if someone could peer-review to make sure I didn't screw something up there. We could make a similar change to StackKeyedObjectPool as well, and for that matter to some of the other methods (borrowObject, etc.), but someone may ambitious than me may have to do it. Frankly I don't see much performance difference either way, but perhaps my Factory calls are just smaller than yours.
