It's no problem to assign bugs to individual developers. Just be sure to add the mailing list as a CC as well, so that everyone gets to see the activities on the bug reports.

Just a process note on assigning bugs to individual developers. Doing it this way means that COMMONS-DEV will no longer see any email as the bug report is updated, unless you also add "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" back on as a "cc" address.
