Here is a recent TSS survey of J2EE containers that shows jdk levels supported by different containers:

Please be careful when relying on these -- for example, it doesn't have tomcat 5. ;) I wish there was some sort of an automated tracker for these things, so that for example when we release a product (e.g. tomcat) in a certain category (e.g. servlet container) we can specify supported versions of things (e.g. JDK, servlet specification) via a web service or something to automatically update a central web page that keeps track of this information.
Ack. I did not mean to indicate that the TSS survey was completely up to date. The point that I was trying to make is that 1.4 support is recent or non-existent for many containers, so lots of folks can't use 1.4 - dependent code yet.
We should have a good list of reasons to upgrade to 1.4 besides it being the latest ;) And I think we do for some components...
