The '-D' problem is fixed now in the CVS, and will appear in the next release.

If '-debug' is specified, then jsvc will warn about -D options that don't 
contain an '='.

I don't agree that './jsvc -version' should work (since it should just return 
the same thing as 'java -version').  The option is intended to help you to 
debug broken scripts.  Since the output of './jsvc -version' would get sent 
to /dev/null, it doesn't seem to be that useful to support.
