I don't disagree with you.  I am just saying that introducing this feature at 
this point would produce too much incompatible API change.  Therefore I changed 
the status to "Later", meaning perhaps JXPath 2.0.

Are you using an application server?  Most today's application servers insulate 
applications from each other by using separate class loaders. Static settings 
performed by one application do not affect other applications.
