I'm to blame for Beck. Sorry I haven't reviewed xmlio yet. From your description it sounds like Beck and xmlio have rather different aims. But they're close enough relatives that we might benefit from cross-pollination. I'd be happy to compare notes, if you like.
By the way, can you recommend any tools for mapping between XML and Java (in both directions)? I was driven to create Beck because I couldn't find anything adequate.
