Stephen, Point taken. I just thought I'd offer up some work that I did that maybe others could use (it seemed common enough). I actually developed it in a situation where I needed to find the first element of collection A that was not in (I wrapped this one with a not predicate) collection B. This seemed like the most "commons collections way" to do it. Anyway, what negative reaction(s) did you get to 3.0? I really like commons collections and I use it a lot (some might say too much) on my current project. I didn't realize you were getting bad reaction(s). If you guys need some help, though, I'd be willing to throw my hat in the ring to lend a hand. I'm already a committer on the HiveMind project, so we wouldn't have to fill out any paperwork (I don't think).

Two things here, firstly I have been the main maintainer of [collections] for a while, but have been focussed on JodaTime recently. Secondly, [collections] faces a size problem. [collections] could accept many good ideas (there are hundreds of good possibilities for predicates, and I've already rejected four or five), and this is another good idea. However, there has to be a scope limit and boundary at some point. This refusal to add too much more to [collections] is due to - the lack of active maintainers - the size of the resulting jar file - the negative reaction to [collections] 3.0 Which is a long way of saying, Good Idea, but -1 on adding it to [collections]. Stephen ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Carman" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Matthew, Ok, I was just getting worried there. Usually the developers are somewhat quick to respond. I at least expected something like "good idea" or "that's stupid." :-) James -----Original Message----- From: matthew.hawthorne [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, March 09, 2005 6:51 PM To: Jakarta Commons Developers List Subject: Re: [collections] PATCH: Add CollectionContainsPredicate... Nobody has responded to your message for 2 days -- but that definitely doesn't mean that nobody is monitoring [collections]. It just means that nobody has had the time to respond. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
