Thanks a bunch Dmitri! That is exactly what I was arguing for, elegantly implemented. And I think looking ahead at XPath 2.0 cannot be harmful... Eventually one would expect a JXPath 2.0 implementation to come along, which is fully adherent to the 2.0 spec. I vote this is a good solution, and to close the bug once and for all.
