Well, from that perspective it might be a valid concern. But IMHO this does not 
reflect the use case of the 
average user (or am I wrong?). If I were really concerned about download size I 
would use an optimizer to 
remove unused code.
I am more concerned about turning duplication into re-use and preventing code 
getting out of sync. But 
given the fact we are talking about only a few lines of code a more pragmatic 
approach sounds ok 
*grrr* ;-) This is really not worth a long winded discussion. So let's better 
use our energy for other things.

But one more question: Bob, why are you writing from Mark's account? :-)
