the last JCL release (1.0.4) was back in june 2004. since then a lot of work has been put in by the commons logging team analysing the limitations and deficiencies of that release and of the dynamic binding approach to bridging API's in general. it's taken some time but progress has been made and (as importantly) the theoretical limitations of this approach are now well understood.
a release is now well overdue. due to the significant improvements made, it is proposed that this release will be JCL 1.1. a release plan will be assembled on the wiki (http://wiki.apache.org/jakarta-commons/Logging/1.1.0ReleasePlan) and a release candidate cut once it has been prepared. i'm happy to volunteer to act as release manager. here my +1 - robert
