I'm way too bored to actually research this myself, but if you could post the results of: $ ls -lR $JAVA_HOME I can probably tell you what you need to patch to get this working for GNU Java. You could also try building from SVN co, since there have been some JVM compatibility fixes there, but off of the top of my head, I don't remember one for GNU Java.
