I sent a couple of emails last week to people getting started as contributors here. Every time I do this, I feel bad about how the set of links that I end up sending out bounce them all over apache.org and I still have to add a fair amont of explanatory text to make it all make sense. Would anyone have any objections to a short "getting started" page linked to the top-level commons page? Even better, anyone else want to volunteer to write it?
Do you have your links and explanatory text available? I imagine the problem is that there are a lot of www.apache.org bits; but then we have Jakarta specific bits and then Commons specific bits. ie) http://www.apache.org/dev/ http://jakarta.apache.org/site/getinvolved.html http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/volunteering.html Shouldn't things fit into there?
