I remember that. I am not questioning the rationale of stale check. The question
is if there's any good reason for isOpen to call isStale?

Roland,
I see one problem with this approach. In HTTP there's no such thing as
OPEN_FOR_SURE. A perfectly valid connection at the time of getStatus call may go
stale by the time HttpClient is actually ready to do the writing on that connection
