According to the Log4J docs [1]: "There is no default appender attached to root." and "Note that by default, the root logger is assigned to Level.DEBUG." So DEBUG level output is generated but not sent anywhere. [1] http://logging.apache.org/log4j/docs/manual.html If you use Log4J then please supply a configuration.
