Hi Gerard, I’d be happy to help you understand, but maybe you can help me first? :) What do you mean by “using files from Wikidata”? Wikidata uses files from Wikimedia Commons. And what the FileExporter does is exporting files from local wikis to Commons.
Regarding your concerns about disambiguation, script conversion and updates, could you elaborate this a bit?
