All five pool implementations in commons-pool are thread-safe as far as I know and there have been no reported threading issues.
GenericObjectPool and to a lesser extent StackObjectPool are used extensively in multi-threaded environments (supporting various database connection pool implementations in commons-dbcp and bundled with jakarta-tomcat). There are unit tests in commons-pool that exercise the pool implementations in a multithreaded environments as well as unit tests in commons-dbcp that exercise them indirectly in multithreaded environments as well. There are no issues I'm aware of. If you run into something, please submit a test case or patch.
