It looks like when I attached the testcase, that my text disappeared.

Anyway... my last message should have stated that the problem was correctly diagnosed 
by dIon Gillard as a JDK 1.4 vs. 1.3 problem due to a change in API for StringBuffer.  
It appears that XmlUnit 0.8 was compiled with JDK 1.4 which makes the binary 
distribution incompatible with 1.3. I will followup with the XmlUnit dev team to 
ensure this is fixed with 0.8 and the upcoming 1.0 release. The JellyUnit tags 
presently work fine as long as 1.4 is used for the runtime.
