Thanks for the info. We've decided to use the 1.0.1 version as it seems to work 
without any problems. This looks like a 'cleaner' solution :)

We've stumbled upon the following with MS ftp servers:

ftp> site DIRSTYLE

this will toggle MSDOS-like directory output on or off.  You'll get the 200 reply and 
a message indicating it is on or off.  I believe the default setting can also be 
changed at the server.  Turning it off allows the default parser to work.
