Oh well. Unless one aims at symbolical integration, there is no such thing as an Universal Numerical Integration algorithm, even less than an Universal Root finder (although it's not as bad as for PDEs). Ok, adaptive Gauss formulas should work well enough for 99% of the functions an amateur would throw at them, even though it could be cheaper half of the time.
