Vale Sergio, But the question was how to enable dbcp's own logging not how to write logs from my classes. I mean dbcp does not write log. My classes use commons logging

Sorry Zsolt, it seems to me that dbcp does not write any log to commons logging, nor to any other place other than System.err.

did you mean 'dbcp' ? dbcp uses commons-logging, and if you put log4j.jar in the classpath the configuration is already done!
