Allowing null values in nested properties

        Is there a way to indicate to BeanUtils that it should return null 
(or other value) instead of NPE when it finds a null in the middle of a 
nested property expression?

        Something like returning null in "foo.bar" when "foo" is null.

        I've noticed the thread below, from Oct. 2002 (thought it might 
have been adressed already):
