Hello Frank,
These messages can be disabled by configuring HttpClient's logging <http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/httpclient/logging.html>. Specifically you will want to set the org.apache.commons.httpclient logger to ERROR or FATAL.

Hello Folks,
we are using httpclient to fetch content from other webservers and including it in our portal.
There are a lot of warning messages in the SystemOut log like this: HttpMethodBas W org.apache.commons.httpclient.HttpMethodBase Response content length is not known
We are sure, that this is no real problem, because everything works fine.
The only problem we have is, that the log is full of these warnings.
What needs to be done to avoid this logging?
Mit freundlichen Gren / Best Regards Frank Herrfurt
