This has slipped out of our attention! Maybe file a bug to make sure this isn't done in the next milestone ?
This entity of common-dependencies.ent is a very old remain and has been, since then, replaced by maven project inheritance.

Well mevenide is great, but will not resolve a missing file...
I ended up making the change to project.xml I found in CVS, replacing the
file dependency with the
<extend>parent-project.xml</extend>
and copied the current parent-project.xml file out of CVS and putting it in
the jelly directory.
'maven jar' now works as it should, woohoo
