Wafa,

I have a number of questions and some comments on this.

Firstly – is the GC prepared to reveal who makes up this investigation team –
since this is critical to the neutrality of the report
Secondly – Considering that there are elections coming up and it is entirely
possible that the results of this investigation could implicate the entire
board as regards their actions taken in response to this mess, for the GC to
come back and announce a delay that runs into the start of the AIS week – and
to announce this only after the issue was queried on a public list – is in my
view simply unacceptable.

If the GC knew there would be a delay – surely it would have been wise to
announce said delay at the time it was known so that those of us who are
casting votes in the upcoming election, and also dealing with this boards
refusal to table certain resolutions, could have made decisions? I fail to see
how it is in the interests of good corporate governance to announce a delay the
day before the report is due with electronic voting on elections that affect
the board positions already open.

Subject: [Community-Discuss] Independent investigation

Dear Community,

Please refer to the investigation assignment given to the Governance Committee
by the AfriNIC Board.

The GC appointed an investigation team to carry out investigations on 9th April
2018 . The investigation team was to issue a report to the GC by the 23rd April
2018. This was to enable the GC make its report, ready for board consideration
by the 30th April 2018.

During the investigation, the appointed investigation team requested for
additional time to carry out work on some issues which needed more time. The GC
granted the investigation team an additional 4 days to finalize their report.

Consequently, the Governance Committee will not be able to report to the board
by the 30th April 2018. The new timeline will be 4th May 2018.

Best Regards,

Governance Committee
