Apache spirit is about community. But building a community in the virtual world of the Internet is not easy. We slowly learn to know people through their posts on mailing lists, but this still remains very abstract until we put a face and history on a name.

When voted as a Cocoon committer 18 months ago, I posted a "New committer introduction" on cocoon-dev and this has now became a tradition : each new committer presents himself on the list.

But that is still not enough. As Stefano pointed out once (see http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=xml-cocoon-dev&m=100670646619202&w=2), Apache committers are often seen by users as distant gurus, simply because they don't know who we are.

That's why I have built a short home page at http://www.apache.org/~sylvain where I briefly present myself. It's not about pushing my ego, but about showing who's behind the abstract [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'd like to propose each committer to build a simple home page like that one. Knowing each other is the first step towards building a stronger community. And presenting ourselves to the outer world (this list is closed) is a step towards widening that community.
