I am quite keen to see a team of UK based Apache professionals - because that is essentially what I want my company to be. (Can you see any other way of persuading people to program webapps using Turbine rather than PHP?) Any out of work London based Apache people want to market themselves as a group?

I am based in London which is why I prefer to build up links with UK developers but apparently Apache Struts is quite popular in France and technically we should be able to work anywhere within the European Union

Maybe we should create a team of professional Apache consultants something like the JBoss model, or perhaps it should be entirely separate from the ASF.
As an example I am discussing with another company the possibility of providing professional support for companies who run Apache Tomcat.

On the jakarta general list, there has been a discussion about making a list for these kinds of messages and about discussions on working with/for Apache products.
Since we really didn't know if it was a good idea, i set up a mailing list on Sourceforge Krysalis to test the concept.
Result: almost no discussion, not much activity, but nobody yet unsubscribed. Basically a job-announcement list.
I'm cc-ing this message there now, maybe we can think about doing this @ Apache (or maybe it's just not worth it, dunno).

Hello
I colleague of mine is in need of several Java or C++ developers for a
couple of projects in Switzerland and has asked for my help.
With the relaxation of permit issues in CH, he tells me that they will not
require swiss permits to qualify.
He speciafically needs people in the J2EE Corba arena, but is interested
to see any people with a good Java or C++ background, especially German speakers.
He may also need some German speaking support (2ND AND 3RD LINE) people
for the project as well.
Please drop me a mail which I will forward to him if of interest.
Kind regards
Jon
