That doesn't help if the reason for subscribing is to allow one's apache address to send mail to the list. In this case it comes because our CVS commits go to our dev mailing list, so I have both my personal and apache addresses subscribed to avoid moderate requests. It'll be fixed when we separate to have a separate cvs list.
Just have the list moderator "allow" your apache address and no more moderation is required. It's an option on each moderation request.
