You picked the "right" time to visit -- the student introduction (http://www.studentunion.utwente.nl/ik/, in Dutch) runs from the 17th to the 26th. The campus will be /full/ of activities and places to buy beer. One of the biggest student festivals in the Netherlands. Grolsch! Don't plan on sleeping.

I had no idea what FOAF was (lack of xmlized friends I guess) but it sounds interesting.
We are organizing this on a personal and non-profit/cost recovery basis. So if you can help out; if you want to do something specifically; show something, help out organising something, sponsor a t-shirt, beerbash or a lunch, whatever, do let us know. We need the community to make this work.

...we've probably got a few couches and matrasses to spare over here. People are also free to set up tents in front of the flat. We usually also have plenty of beer in stock. I have time (though I /was/ planning to be real drunk), energy, and contacts. What exactly do you need? (my phone# should be in members.txt)
Getting UT catering to organise the lunches and or dinner (http://www.utwente.nl/reserveringsbureau/catering/) for you might be a good idea. It'll probably be a lot cheaper than having the Drienerburght do it, and IIUC the food will be from the same kitchen. Anything over a 100 people may be a little difficult for them to arrange a room for, but its usually not that difficult to find other locations around here. There's probably not a chance you're going to find a pub or bar in Enschede that won't be packed with students.
Which can be a good thing :D
I'll also point out that one of the best Dutch cinemas is right across campus (http://www.cinestar.nl/), as are things like a bowling alley and kart racing track.
Note that the site we are at is a private Campus away from any public roads and normal citizens;
hey, I take offense to that! :-D
so even if you have very wild, noisy or strange ideas - we can propably accomodate them.
...or its already happening nearby anyway.
