It should work just fine. The only issue with these PL2303 cables is that if are doing a *lot* of fw image transfers (flashing or fc-xram), doing them at the standard baud rate of 115200 bps gets tiresome. The fancier cables DS and I were discussing allow you to do these flash transfers at higher speeds - no real significance if you are only going to do it once in a blue moon, but makes a big difference if you are a developer and you need to flash an image to test every little change. As far as cable reliability, hopefully your Sysmocom PL2303 cable won't have the same flakiness problem exhibited by the Sysmocom CP2102 I got through DS. The good news is that the version of fc-loadtool in fc-host-tools-r3 adds automatic CRC-32 verification after flash program-bin operations, so any corrupted flash image transfer won't go undetected.
