This bug is invalid as of right now. The 32/64 bit issues that existed in 0.5
are fixed in trunk, and the new layout has the libspatialindex C API existing
within libspatialindex proper rather than as the libsidx.so within Rtree.

Marios and I are currently working through a nasty bulk sorting bug that is
holding up the next libspatialindex release, but once that is either fixed or
triaged, we'll be releasing the new version. The next version of Rtree will
quickly (within a day or two after of libspatialindex) follow.

Short answer. Use trunk of both libspatialindex and Rtree and you should be
able to get a long ways down the road. Otherwise, hurry up and wait for new
releases of both.

Sorry the situation isn't any better just now, but it'll improve. Promise.
